Research is a pivotal element at Scuola Superiore Sant'Anna.

Scientific publications, patents and spin-offs prove the ability of the School to foster and focus on intellectual property. Research activity is well suited with training and contributes to give it a multi-disciplinary angle. Besides professors and researchers, students, final year students and temporary research associates also participate in research projects.

The Institute, housed at Polo Sant'Anna Valdera, originates from the union of two labs operating in the field of Biorobotics:
Advanced Robotics Technology and Systems (ARTS) and Centre for Research In Microengineering (CRIM).
Arts
The Laboratory is devoted to researching science and technology applied to robotics, with an interdisciplinary approach aimed at biology and medicine application.
