ROBO-IMPLANT

WELCOME TO THE ROBO-IMPLANT PROJECT WEBSITE!

ROBO-IMPLANT is a two-year collaborative project funded by the Tuscany Region aiming to develop a fully implantable long-term artificial pancreas for Type 1 Diabetes patients.

The project has the potential to revolutionize Diabetes treatment by freeing the patient from the slavery of multiple fingerpricks and exogenous insulin injections. This paradigm changing breakthrough is enabled by innovative technologies enabling a non-invasive insulin refilling through ingestible pills and a wireless battery recharging strategy.

The project objective is to develop a full prototype of such a new artificial pancreas technology and to validate it on a diabetic animal model.
